Made in Trans-Pakistan is an exhibition by artist Umber Majeed featuring AR and ceramic sculptures that explore themes of doubling and revels in dichotomies to navigate the personal and the governmental, the kitsch and the corporate, the real and the digital.
Made in Trans-Pakistan features two AR installations that to explore nostalgia, gentrification, and urbanization in Pakistan. The first sculpture is a replica of a monumental foundtain with horses in Bahria Town Lahore, Pakistan. Using augmented reality, the fountain is brought to life with animated horses and plastic bags as flowing water. The second piece features a black and white tiled platform that extends to the wall that houses an augmented checked abyss. The abyss releases pixelated Urdu text, filling up the monochromtic space and creating the illusion of depth.
