Infinite Mother is a video game film, known as a machinima, that responds to the disassociation children feel towards their parents, specifically mothers who have been emotionally absent because of modern cultural pressures.
Infinite Mother is an experimental video game focusing on intergenerational pain, shared vulnerability, and fractured relationships. Built on the foundation of ancient myths, the game transports you to the world of "Amah," a deity inspired by primal maternal figures like Mitochondrial Eve and the Chinese goddess Xi Wangmu. Built using the Unreal engine, the visuals utilize recorded motion-capture movements of chimeric fauna scattered throughout the craggy rockscapes, mossy bogs, and serene pools.
Infinite Mother v1.0 was on view as part of Within, Below, an exhibition at Chinatown Soup from September 19th to 30th, and virtually at Distant Gallery.
